The recent questionings in the bosom of the American legislature on supposed shortcomings in the Cuban airport safety and of the aviation in Cuba lack a foundation, authorities of the Caribbean nation stated Thursday here. In accordance with the general manager of the United States for the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal, technical staff of the US Transport Safety Administration (TSA) of the northern country visited the island in 33 opportunities from the year 2000.

In the interview, Garbalosa added that the periodic visits Cuba of the North American authorities of the sector began in the year 2000 and were regularized from 2003.

Also, since the 90s last century, the flights were restored chárteres and the statistics demonstrate that in the last times the trips of this type add several hundreds every month.

In 2015 the total was of 4,783 and in the first semester of the present year, another 3,452 were registered, without only one incident that was putting in danger the airport safety, say the numbers.

According to Garbalosa, in spite of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed on Cuba for the United States for more than 50 years, the international airports of the island count the necessary equipment to guarantee safety levels according to the world regulations.
