Over 55 high level delegations, including more than 20 heads of state will participate in a tribute event to late Cuban leader Fidel Castro at the Revolution Square in Havana on Tuesday night, said the country's Foreign Ministry.

Around 30 presidents and prime ministers will start to arrive at the Caribbean nation in the coming hours to accompany the Cuban people to bid farewell to Castro.

Among the presidents that will participate in the event are Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro, Bolivia's Evo Morales, Ecuador's Rafael Correa, Mexico's Enrique Pena Nieto, Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega and Colombia's Juan Manuel Santos.

Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe, South Africa's Jacob Zuma, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and other world leaders and officials will also attend the tribute.

The burial ceremony for Castro is scheduled for Dec. 4 in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba and various international delegations will attend, said the Foreign Ministry.

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao has left for Cuba to attend memorial activities for Castro as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Thousands of Cubans on Monday began paying tribute to the late Revolution leader in a solemn and tearful ceremony at Havana's Jose Marti memorial hall amid a nation-wide mourning.
