Cuban Early Music Festival to be Dedicated to Dance

Havana, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) The Esteban Salas Early Music Festival, celebrated in Cuba, with the participation of artists from various countries, will dedicate its 12th edition to dance, announced today the director of the event, Teresa Paz.

The possibility of showing dance as an artistic manifestation not only gestural but musical will be one of the main attractions of the event scheduled to take place in this capital from February 4 to 12.

Among the participants is included the U.S. ensemble Asteria which will interpret songs of love of 14th and 15th Centuries; While Antiqua Camera, involving Argentine and Colombian instrumentalists, will review compositions from the Renaissance to Classicism.

From Austria and Germany will arrive the Salzburger Barock-Trio to present works of German baroque authors such as Georg Friedrich HÃñndel, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Georg Philipp Telemann.

Italian harpsichordist Daniel Ferrer, winner of the Ruspoli Baroque Music Prize in 2016, will offer a concert on February 9 at the Antique Church of San Francisco de Paula.

In addition to this space, the Oratory San Felipe Neri, the Parish of the Holy Custody Angel and the Martí Theater will be the headquarters of the festival which maintains the academic formation as premise and encourages Cuban musicians to continue researching in the repertoire and the interpretation of the early music.
