MEL Gibson has become a father for the ninth time aged 61.
The actor’s girlfriend Rosalind Ross, 26, gave birth to a baby boy on Saturday and the couple are said to be “over the moon” at the new arrival.
The Braveheart star’s rep confirmed the happy news to People magazine and also revealed the baby’s name.
Mel and Rosalind named their son Lars Gerard Gibson and he weighed 5lbs 5oz when he was born on Saturday.
A source told People: “They’re thrilled and Lars is adorable. Their family is all around them and Mel is over the moon. They’re home and everybody is healthy and happy!”
The couple announced they were expecting a baby last September and a close friend told People they are “so excited” to start a family together.

An insider continued: “Mel loves being a dad and he and Rose can’t wait to be parents together.
“The last two years have been some of his happiest years he’s ever had.”

While Mel already has eight children from previous relationships, but the baby will be former professional equestrian and writer Rosalind's first.
An insider recently told the outlet: "She is great for him.
"She has her own life, but also seems to enjoy Mel's... They are very much on the same page."
