A total of 47 albums under EGREM Record Label have been submitted to compete in the 21st edition of the Cubadisco Awards, to be held next May, in Havana.
During a working visit to the city of Santiago de Cuba, Mario Escalona, EGREM general director, told the press that Siboney Studios, in this Cuban Eastern city, have a prominent presence in the aforementioned amount.
He said that EGREM has a new proposal consisting in a digital stand, in which, from a novel system of applications to reproduce music, people will have access to the songs and lyrics of their preference.
Likewise, with the collaboration of the ETECSA Telecommunications Company and DESOFT National Software Company, it will be possible to download award-winning albums in previous editions of the contest, he added.
Escalona highlighted the presentation at the Cubadisco event of a project which, initiated last June and headed by the Ministry of Culture and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, with the support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), will contribute to promote Cuban music.
Yolaida Duarte, manager of the project, named ¨Strengthening competitiveness, organizational performance and export capacity of the Cuban music industry, ¨explained that along with other actions, this initiative will include workshops on copyright and training activities for producers, directors, artists and other specialists of that branch.
The project will also conduct research that will provide an information and analysis system to evaluate the performance of Cuban music, as well as its national and international impact.
Sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Music, the Cubadisco Awards have promoted exchange among theorists, creators and executives linked to the music world, who come together every year to recognize talent and think about new ways of development and promotion of this artistic aspect.
