Dance specialists will present a book on the life and career of the first dancer of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), Viengsay Valdés, Casa del ALBA Cultural (a cultural institution to promote Latin American works) announced today.

The entity will host the exhibition of this work by sociologist Carlos Tablada, with a title that characterizes the artist, De acero y nube (Steel and Cloud).

Valdés told Prensa Latina that this book humanizes her because it gives the public an opportunity to get to know her beyond the scene, she talks about her effort to become a world-class artist and mention declarations of very important persons in her career.

Among these, she highlighted four invaluable testimonies without which she would not be the same dancer: her father Roberto Valdés, her grandmother Amparo Rivero, the teacher of the National Ballet School Mirta Hermida who trusted her from the beginning and the teacher Fernando Alonso, all of them deceased.

The author is 1987 Casa de las Americas Award Winner, for the book El pensamiento económico de Ernesto Che Guevara (The Economic Thought of Ernesto Che Guevara).
