Beijing, May 24 (Prensa Latina) The legendary novel by Colombian Nobel Prize-winner Gabriel García Márquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude, came to life today in the Chinese capital 50 years after its publication.

This masterpiece of Colombian and universal literature, open to endless interpretations and surviving in the memory of millions of readers, was highlighted this day at the University of Beijing during an event aimed at celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of its release, along with the launch of the Chinese language version of the book 'The Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor.'

In the presence of former ambassadors of this country in the South American country, representatives of the diplomatic corps, students, media and Chinese cultural personalities, an emotional meeting was held within the framework of the cultural festival 'Meet in Beijing,' which takes places every year in the month of May in this country.

At the opening of the meeting, the Colombian ambassador in this nation, Oscar Rueda, reviewed the life of the talented writer and journalist who served as a reporter in six territories.
