Cuban and U.S. People Come Together in Rumba Night

Cuban residents in the District Capital of Washington and the states of Maryland, Virginia, Louisiana and Georgia, together with diplomats of their country of birth and of the U.S. merged to celebrate a rumba night until today's early hours.

The party was a new chapter of the cultural evenings organized by Havana´s embassy and consulate in this capital, an initiative aimed to strengthen the unity among compatriots, friends of the island and lovers of its culture.

On this occasion, the artistic center Joe's Movement Emporium in Maryland, very near to Washington D.C. organized the evening starring the group Rumberos All Stars.

Including those least seasoned in dancing moved his body to the music and the North Americans present followed the steps of Cubans like students with their professors in a special dance class.

As the Cuban General Consul in the U.S., Alejandro Padron, said, friendship desires and feelings grew among both nations.

The diplomat recalled that beyond the speech delivered by U.S. President, Donald Trump, on June 16 in Miami, Florida, his country has the will to coexist peacefully on the basis of mutual respect.

For us, music is very important, as it always gives joy and is a good way to come together, tonight we have been very happy, Aramis Pazos, leader of the Rumberos All Stars, told Prensa Latina.

He explained that the music group, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, has former members of recognized groups of the island as Yoruba Andabo, pretends to highlight the values of Cuban music.

Over the next days, he detailed, the group will perform in cities of the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio and California, and also it plans a tour of Toronto and Vancouver, in Canada.
