Jazz Musicians Chucho Valdes and Gonzalo Rubalcaba to Play Concerts

The outstanding Cuban jazz musicians Chucho Valdes and Gonzalo Rubalcaba will perform individual concerts at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso in August, said organizers today.

The concerts, organized by the Cuban Institute of Music (ICM), are included in a program of summer concerts that has the two musicians as one of the most appealing features.

'Valdes' concert will take place on August 12th and Rubalcaba will perform on August 19th, two great opportunities if we take into account the tight agenda they have,' ICM vice president Marta Bonet told the Prensa Latina news agency.

Organizers said that the program is completed by Cuban pianist Hernan Lopez Nussa, on August 26th, along with the project Familia Lopez Nussa, which includes his brother Ruy and his nephews Harold and Ruy Adrian.

Another important performance will be Jojazz in concert, which includes the participation of relevant Jazz figures as saxophonist Michel Herrera, trombonist Eduardo Sandoval and pianist Alejandro Falcon, who will premiere songs from his upcoming album 'Mi monte espiritual', among others.

Chamber music will be performed by the Camerata Romeu orchestra, an all-female instrumentalist group led by Zenaida Romeu, while the National Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela is pending confirmation.
