About to celebrate his 70th birthday, Nelson Dominguez, a 2009 National Visual Arts prizewinner, is opening an exhibition on Saturday consisting of a new series of paintings and engravings that reaffirm his vast creative capacity.

The artist himself will open his personal exhibition at the San Jose de las Lajas gallery, in Mayabeque province, near Havana. There, Dominguez, whose birthday will be on September 23, will be honored.

In addition to paintings and engravings, the artist has built installations, dared to play with space and formats, without any preference for specific subjects, only with the interest in transcribing emotions.

Dominguez's artworks are in private collections of personages like the Queen of the Netherlands, Steven Spielberg, Robert Redford, Liv Ullmann, among others, and in Cuba, Japan, Mexico, France, the United States, Malaysia, Panama, Brazil and Colombia.

The Cuban Ministry of Culture granted him the National Award for Visual Arts in 2009, as an acknowledgement of his work and to coin him among the best creators in the country.
