Carmina Burana by the Contemporary Dance Company for the first time in Cuba

The super production Carmina Burana by the Contemporary Dance Company –DCC- will be staged for the first time in Cuba Dec 15/17 at Havana’s Grand Theater Alicia Alonso.

Created in 2008 for the Cuban dance ensemble with a live orchestra and choir, it’s just been staged for two nights at Mexico City’s National Auditorium with a capacity for more than 10 thousand spectators. At that time it was awarded the Luna Award granted by the Mexican capital’s prestigious theater.

Choreographed by George Céspedes for the Cuban Contemporary Dance Company and directed by Miguel Iglesias, the super production includes live music by the Cuban National Symphony, the National Choir and the vocal group’s children’s choir, conducted by Enrique Pérez Mesa and Digna Guerra, respectively. Soprano Milagros de los Ángeles, baritone Ulises Aquino and tenor Harold López Roche are set to join the performance.

DCC Director, Miguel Iglesias, said that George Céspedes reflects on space, making it such an interesting proposal. ‘It’s a living set where nobody stands out, it’s a cooperation chain’, added the company’s director, following the ensemble’s successful performances in Mexico.
