Neeson, who hails from Northern Ireland, said he and Bono have been working together on the project for the past six years.

“We chat, or with him a lot of the time I just listen. He’s a wonderful man. He’s got an idea for a script which we’ve been working on for the past six years,” the 62-year-old actor said.

Neeson did not offer many details of the project, but noted that the film revolves around the phenomenon of dances and social events featuring showbands, popular in Ireland four decades ago.

The Hollywood star did not indicate, however, whether he himself would appear in the film.

Neeson said that Bono, 54, had been a tremendous support for him and his children after the tragic death of the actor’s wife, Natasha Richardson, in 2009 in a skiing accident.

Despite their close relationship, technology is one of the few issues that separate them, the actor noted.

Technology “terrifies me,” says Neeson, who claims he feels comfortable with his older model mobile phone.

He added, “I’m fine with this but every month (my sons) are telling me to change to the latest version, and (I say), ‘Oh shut up.’”
