Starts third edition of cultural event on ties between Cuba and Italy

The third edition of the "Cuba-Italia, cultural ties" meeting began Wednesday here organized by the Association for a dwarf Prince, chaired by Olga Lidia Priel.

The exhibition of 30 paintings belonging to the catalogue "Five artists to Cuba", a symposium and musical performances and you dance in the Caribbean island and elsewhere, were part of the program of the opening day, held at the Palace of conventions in this City of Central Italy.

The basis of the pictorial exhibition, which will remain open to the public until Tuesday 31st, is comprised of works exhibited in 2012, during the campaign for the release of prisoners, Cuban five anti-terrorist fighters unfairly then, in US prisons.

In the panel moderated by Priel involved Deputy Mayor, Luca Buteni, the novelist Roberto Fraschetti and the Secretary in charge of press and culture at the Embassy of Cuba in Italy, Lisset Argüelles.

During the presentation of the activity, the President of the Association for a dwarf Prince recalled that the organization is named, inspired by the homonymous poem by the Cuban national hero, José Martí, always present, especially just a few hours of mark on July 26, the day of national rebellion in Cuba.

Buteni conveyed a greeting on behalf of the municipal government, at the time that stressed the importance of activities of this kind, with a view to deepening the mutual understanding between the two countries, and identify possible areas of cooperation with the participation of institutions and citizens of this territory.

Lisset Argüelles, for his part, thanked the presence of the Deputy Mayor and the organizers the realization of the event, and stressed that relations between Cuba and Italy are historic and deep, go beyond bilateral ties and are in an excellent moment.

Special significance was the intervention of the writer Roberto Fraschetti, author of four novels inspired by moments in the history of the island.

Tobacco (2011), new moon (2013), clouds (2012) singing and the wind before the wind (2018) make up the Quartet, through which Fraschetti recreates the Cuban people for their emancipation struggles, since the Spanish colonization up to the revolutionary triumph of the 1st of January 1959.
