"No Date, No Signature", directed by Vahid Jalilvand, will represent Iran in the best foreign-language film category corresponding to the Hollywood Academy Award for Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in 2019.

The Iranian film conquered the distinctions of best director, film, screenplay and supporting actress and actor, at a recent Iran Film Festival.

The movie tells the story of a forensic scientist, a virtuous man who, after a car accident, faces the dilemma of whether he is responsible for the death of a child or if the cause is not related to the fatal incident.

Critics in charge of selecting Iran's presentation to the Oscars said in a statement that the U.S. boycott against the Persian country was very strong this year.

However, the Academy is a non-governmental organization that belongs to all those who work in the film industry, they added.

According to the critics panel, 'No Date, No Signature' is considered apt to represent Iranian cinema at the Hollywood Academy Awards for its positive international response and the efforts of its distributor in the United States.

Iran won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2017 with 'The Salesman' and, in 2012, with 'A Separation', both directed by Asghar Farhadi.
