A varied program of activities will mark the Orange Festival, Cultural Month of the Netherlands in Cuba, that will take place in this city from September 21, according to the organizers.

In a press conference the ambassador of the Netherlands Kingdom in Havana, Alexandra Valkenburg, highlighted the close relations between both countries, and stressed that the festival hopes to reinforce these ties, not only at the government level but also among the peoples.

Films showing, exhibitions, and concerts are among the proposals of the event, which will open with the recital of the renowned Dutch jazz pianist Michiel Borstlap.

The musician, who has received among other awards the prestigious Thelonious Monk Composers Prize, also has scheduled presentations with the Cuban saxophonist Cesar Lopez at the National Museum of Fine Arts in this capital, and in the Jose White Room, in the city of Matanzas.

The event, organized together with the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Music Institute, among other entities on the island, will include in its program the annual Week of Dutch cinema, in which will screen classic and contemporary films of the seventh art of the European country.
