The movie "Jose Marti, el Ojo del Canario" (Jose Marti, The Eye of The Canary), by Fernando Perez, will represent Cuba at the Mira Pa'ca Latin American Film Festival in Buenos Aires, to which motion pictures from 11 countries were submitted.

During this first edition, the event, taking place from October 12 to November 3, will screen a small group of regional films, and Argentineans will enjoy them for free at the Friends Association auditorium of the National Museum of Fine Arts.

Under the auspices of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts, in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture and the embassies of the nations attending the event, the festival will screen about 12 films from Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Panama and Dominican Republic, among others.

The film 'Zama', by the outstanding Argentinean filmmaker Lucrecia Martel, will open the festival, which is aimed at promoting Latin American cinema.

Argentinean Minister of Culture Pablo Avelluto said that 'this event celebrates our cultural brotherhood and it is an excellent opportunity to enrich our views with the stories these films tell us'.
