Havana Film Festival to Present Honour Coral Award in 2018

The Havana Film Festival will present the Honour Coral Award and the Special Coral in its 40th edition, announced the organizers of the event scheduled to be held from December 6 to 16.

These awards recognize personalities with a relevant professional trajectory linked to the cinema and, in the case of the Special Prize, to institutions with a valuable contribution to the seventh art.

The event was founded in 1979 as the New Latin American International Film Festival in Havana.

Winners of the Honor Coral Award have been Jack Lemmon (United States), in 1985; Gabriel Garcia Marquez, (Colombia), Jorge Amado (Brazil), Fernando Birri (Argentina), Gian Maria Volonte (Italy) and Harry Belafonte (United States), in 1986, among other outstanding professionals of the 7th art.

According to the Board of Directors of 40th Festival, more than 300 audiovisual works will be admitted to opt for some Coral Prize, the distinctive award of the contest that will be delivered on December 14.

Precisely, at the closing ceremony the Honor and the Special Choir Coral Award will be handed over, among others.
