Diaz-Canel Recalls Foundation of Emblematic Cuban Orchestra

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday recalled the 55th anniversary of Original of Manzanillo, ''one of the emblematic orchestras of Cuban popular music.''

Original of Manzanillo has enriched our national identity, the president wrote on his Twitter account.

On that same social network, the Cuban president congratulated the musician Pachy Naranjo, leader of the popular orchestra founded on December 21, 1963, and its members.

The band is very famous in the eastern Cuban province of Granma and has several records and awards from Cuban institutions, as well as hits on national radio.

Original of Manzanillo has a wide sonorous repertoire consisting of several musical genres such as guaracha, danzon and rumba, among others.
