The largest Pablo Picasso exhibition ever hosted in China, according to its sponsors, will be opened on June 15 at the Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, where 103 pieces of the artist will be exhibited, cultural authorities reported Sunday.

The exhibition called 'Picasso, Birth of a Genius' will last three months until September 1 and includes paintings, sculptures and works on paper.

According to the Beijing Centre for Contemporary Art, the exhibition of 103 masterpieces by the famous artist from Malaga is the most substantial of a Pablo Picasso collection presented in China.

The works to be exhibited belong to the collection of the Picasso Museum in Paris and, according to that institution, offer an overview of the first three decades of the renowned author's artistic career.

This collection also tells the story of creative training and the evolution of bold, original and prolific talent in the history of modern art, the museum details on its website.

The Hong Kong Heritage Museum also opened its doors in 2012 to Picasso's works.

Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain, and is considered one of the most important painters of the 20th century.
