Havana, July 13 (Prensa Latina) American jazz group Synthesis will offer a concert this Saturday in Havana featuring Cuban instrumentalist, composer and arranger Orlando Valle (Maraca) as a special guest.

The recital in the Sala Covarrubias at the National Theater will be the second presentation of the ensemble in Havana, which also has performances scheduled in the provinces of Matanzas and Cienfuegos.

The group, which comes from the Brigham Young University (BYU), in the North American state of Utah, visits Cuba with a group of students from that high school incorporated into their list for the presentations.

Synthesis has already shared the stage with the local Jazz Band directed by Joaquin Betancourt, one of the most renowned musicians of the genre in Cuba.

The next performances of the group are scheduled for the 15th in the Jose White Hall in Matanzas, and the 16th in the theater Tomas Terry in Cienfuegos.

The American group, founded by K. Newell Dayley and directed by Ray Smith, has performed at major jazz events in US and around the world, such as the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, North Sea Jazz in Holland, and the Jazz Festival in Finland.

In its repertoire it combines styles such as swing, blues, jazz, Latin sonorities and fusion.
