The exhibition largely showcases work of Indonesian artists, drawing a symbolic connection between the historically oppressive governments in both Cuba and Indonesia. Artists on deck include Mango Putra, Yunizar, Yusra Martunus, Putu Sutawijaya, Jumaldi Afo, and Ugo Untoro.

The cross cultural connections in “Trajectories" follows the trend of artistic diplomacy between Cuba, Asia, and Africa. The US. Director of National Fine Arts Museum in Havana, Ana Christina Perera, explained that cultural symbolism plays a vital role in “breaking barriers imposed by governments that have nothing to do with the will of the artists"(see "Cuba May Host First Show From an American Museum"). The show seeks to form relationships between Indonesian and Cuban artists and art lovers through a shared political ground.

“Trajectories" is on view at Gallery Havana from 12 November through 21 November.
