Holguin, Cuba, Oct 25 (Prensa Latina) Cuban artist Nelson Dominguez is holding an exhibition in eastern Holguin province, as the first tribute from plastic arts to the legendary prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, who passed away recently.

I always respected her image and I have the great satisfaction of having lived in her time, he told Prensa Latina.

The exhibition, entitled 'My Friend Alicia', consists of nearly 60 artworks in different techniques and formats that are on display at the Provincial Plastic Art Center in Holguin, 734 kilometers east of Havana.

With these works, Dominguez celebrated the 70th anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) in Havana a year ago, but since Alicia Alonso's death on October 17, the collection has gained a new significance and it is a tribute to Cuba's most universal artist.

That way, the Ibero-American Culture Festival, inaugurated on Thursday, also honors the mythical Cuban ballerina.
