World Book Fair opens in India

India's Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal on Saturday opened the New Delhi World Book Fair, which is themed 'Gandhi: The Writers' writer.'
As part of the celebrations in India to mark the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth, the theme of this Fair aims to highlight his influence on literature and major authors of India as well as from other countries.
The Fair will also focus on the aspects of Gandhi as a writer, editor, journalist, publisher and a mass communicator par excellence.
The New Delhi World Book Fair, attended by more than 600 publishing houses, will run until January 12, according to the All India Radio website.
