Brasilia, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Under perennial, but refreshing rain, millions of Brazilians went out on the streets of almost the country's all states to celebrate Carnival Monday, with social criticism and tributes to indigenous people and Afro-descendants.

The enjoyment of lights, dances and lots of music, especially samba and a musical style known as'sertanejo,' which has been dominating radio stations in recent years, shakes Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Salvador, Recife or Belo Horizonte, cities where the first merit turns out to be a party for imagination.

More than three million people enjoyed the more than 140 blocks between Friday and Monday, according to a poll conducted by Riotur, a company specialized in ecotourism and adventure tourism.

More than 510,000 people remained in the streets to accompany more than 40 blocks scheduled for Monday, the survey states.

The Bloco das Divas, in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes, west zone, drew about 34,000 citizens who jumped and sang to the rhythm of the carnival classics.

According to G1 news portal, about 52 parades gathered on Sunday in Rio more than 1.4 million people, highlighting 500,000 that accompanied the Bangalafumenga Carnival Block in the Aterro do Flamengo, and for the Areia block in Leblon, with 385,000.

The National Trade Confederation predicts that about 36 million Brazilians will celebrate Carnival 2020, which will bring economic benefits for more than US$1.8 billion.
