The Grammy award winner orchestra, which brought together a group of traditional Cuban music legends in 1996, will be back again to woo the city with their music, dance and the “candela” of traditional Cuban music, following their last performance in February.

“We want our music to endure over time and continue enchanting the world. This is what we have achieved with our concerts,” said singer Omara Portuondo in a statement.

“It’s been an incredible part of my life and my career.”

The “Adios Tour” symphonizes more than 1,000 concerts in which more than 40 Cuban musicians participated in the last 16 years, even as the orchestra combined talents of veteran musicians and younger artistes to transform itself into a major band.

The farewell tour is being directed by Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos, leader of the band and trombonist, with singing diva Portuondo at the vocals, the Manuel “Guajiro” Mirabal at the trumpet and Barbarito Torres at the “laud” or Cuban flute.

The musicians accompanying them include master Cuban tres player Papi Oviedo, pianist Rolando Luna and a rhythm section composed by Pedro Pablo (double bass), Andres Coayo (congas), Filiberto Sanchez (timbals) and Alberto “La Noche” (bongos), besides trumpeters Luis Allemany, Carlos Calunga and Idania Valdez.
