The special route “Alicia Alonso, órbita de una leyenda”, dedicated to the 95th birth anniversary of the famous Cuban dancer, will start on July 9 at 2pm at Centro Hispanoamericano de Cultura attached to the City Historian's Office.
The meeting, which is part of the summer program Rutas y Andares para descubrir en familia 2015 that will include exhibitions, a guided tour, conferences and audiovisual materials.
The exhibition Giselle y Carmen, a vision of two of the great characters the famous Cuban ballerina immortalized in the stage, will open on Thursday. The exhibition will gather photos, posters, dresses and documents, testimonies of her performances in these ballets. At the end it will be presented the documentary Alicia Alonso, orbita de una leyenda, by filmmaker Jose Ramon Rodriguez Neyra.
Every Thursday of July at the same time there will be the conferences “Carmen y la Alonso” by writer Eduardo Heras Leon, 2014 National Literature Award; “Giselle eres tú”, by Dr. Roberto Mendez and “Lo hispánico en el arte de Alicia Alonso”, by dancer and professor Irene Rodriguez, a fruit of research for her master’s degree at the University of Arts and present Doctorate.
As a closure of each of this meetings there will be documentaries and films related to the conferences and the prima ballerina assoluta, ballets she starred or interviews in different moments of her life.
