From October 30 to November 8 will be exhibited 26 works at the Rialto, including documentaries, short films and feature films from various Caribbean nations, in an effort co-sponsored by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and the Provincial Film Center, said Lopez.

Lopez, who directed films such as Roble de Olor and Vuelos Prohibidos recommended the works Toussaint Louverture, Miranda regresa and Hermano, among others from Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Curacao, Panama, Haiti, Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago and Aruba.

Lopez said that for the Caribbean public this event is an opportunity for knowing about regional cinema, and when we break the language barriers, comes a space of recognition in a region historically accompanied by a colonial model of interpretation.

Lopez also added that these exhibitions are a reaffirmation of the spiritual heritage of the islands, which have small populations, but boast 11 Nobel prizes and a cultural richness that transcends the stereotypes of heavenly pleasure sites, beaches, palm trees and coconut trees.

The Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase had its inception in 2006. The exhibition is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, along with the support of UNESCO, UNICEF and entities of each of the countries involved, from a modest conception and a model of limited resources.
