Santiago de Cuba.- Eliades Ochoa and Omara Portuondo, members of the well known group Buena Vista Social Club, today shared their music with the people of Santiago.
At the Casa de la Trova, considered a 'temple' of traditional Cuban music, the renowned artists were reunited with the city's public, among whom, as usual, were tourists from the most diverse latitudes.
Both musicians are recording a documentary film dedicated to the farewell of the Buena Vista Social Club. The farewell activities began with an international tour, in which the musical qualities of the ensemble are confirmed.
Ochoa and Portuondo were honored by EGREM. Provincial authorities and prominent musicians from Santiago took part at the event.
Among the activities, was the presentation of the book 'Eliades Ochoa, de la Trova Para el Mundo', by Grisel Sande, which presents the life and work of this musician.
Portuondo said that she appreciated the possibility of performing again in this city, and said that she has good memories from past concerts in Santiago, many of them featuring some of Santiago's most popular singers and composers.
