A Cuban delegation headed by the First Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), Fernando Gonzalez Bermudez, arrived on Friday in Japan to participate in an important conference on the contribution of science to the future of humanity.

The delegation from Cuba will attend the 15th Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for Society (STS forum), scheduled from Saturday to Monday in Kyoto, southwest of Japan, according to diplomatic sources.

The event, which every year joins renowned academicians, will debate on this occasion on the contribution of scientific development to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals in each country and adaptation to Climate Change, according to the official website.

The forum, say the organizers, is also a platform to form collaborative networks between academia, industry and government leaders to build a better world together.

Cuba participates regularly in the annual meetings of that forum and in them ratifies its commitment to building a prosperous and sustainable society, based on the promotion of science, education, innovation and scientific research.

It has also defended the humanist approach to science, technology and innovation for the benefit of all, a legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

More than 500 scientists, directors and personalities from more than 70 countries are expected to attend this edition of the STS Forum.
