Cubans are carrying out several activities to celebrate today the 89th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

  Young people are the main protagonists of a extensive program of activities taking place here to celebrate the birthday of who is the protagonist figure of transcendental episodes of the future of his people, the continent, and the world for more than five decades.

Some 400 young people gathered in the locality of Biran, Holguin, birthplace of Fidel Castro, awaiting the date with a camping.

In addition, a generational meeting with members of the Cuban Young Communist League (UJC) from early periods will be held, and concerts with local artists are prepared.

The Jose Marti Anti-Imperialist Tribune in Havana was the stage for a concert held last night, awaiting August 13.

Today's activities also include a Dialogue of Generations starred by the Marti Youth Movement, on its usual venue of the Alma Mater library, and will close with a children's carnival that will depart from the Havana's Ciudad Deportiva sports complex.
