Diaz Canel Heads Cuban Delegation to Summit on Climate Change
Cuba’s First Vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel heads the Cuban delegation to the World Summit on Climate Change to be held from November 30th to December 11st, in Paris.
The Summit’s goal is to set a new global agreement to limit global warming to 2 Celsius degrees below the average in the pre-industrial levels.
At least 147 heads of States and government, as well as 195 representatives from 195 countries and the European Union, will attend this international meeting scheduled for two weeks in the so-called City of Lights.
The day will start with the official opening of the Summit and the election of Laurent Fabius as president of the COP21 by the 196 parties of the Convention.
The Summit opened with the speeches of France’s president Francois Hollande and UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon. After the family photo, each of the 147 heads of states will deliver a brief speech.
