The Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Councils of State, headed yesterday evening, in the Cuban capital, the customary Parade of Torches, on the eve of the 163rd anniversary of José Martí’s birthday.

Together with José Ramón Machado Ventura, second secretary of the CCP, and the members of the Political Bureau of the Party, the Commandant of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, and Mercedes López Acea, as well as leaders of the Cuban juvenile and student organizations.

Likewise, the former presidents of Uruguay and Dominican Republic, José Mujica and Leonel Fernández, in addition to other personalities and intellectuals joined him.

Neither the rain could prevent that thousands of youngsters marched, next to the Five Cuban Heroes, this homage that not only belongs to Cuba, but to the world, due to the participation of personalities and friends of Cuba who came from 50 nations and attend the II International Conference Con Todos y para El Bien de Todos.
