Vietnamese Communist Leader Congratulates Cuban Peer for Reelection

Vietnamese Communist Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated Raul Castro for his reelection as First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in its 7th Conference, according to reports here today. In his message, Phu Trong congratulated the Cuban Communist Party for the successful conference, which concluded yesterday and said to believe that in the light of the resolutions of the conference and under his leadership, guided by Raul Castro, the Cuban people will overcome the difficulties and challenges, as well as it will achieve more victories in the national defense and the construction of the path to the goal of a prosperous and sustainable socialism.

He also reiterated the desire and determination of the Vietnamese Party, State and people to strengthen even more the existing relations of friendship, comprehensive cooperation and loyal solidarity with Cuba.

With the participation of almost 1,000 delegates, the four-day conference included discussion of the projects of Conceptualization of the Cuban Economic and Social System and the Grounds of the National Socioeconomic Development Plan up to 2030.

In his speech to close the party conference, Raul Castro asserted that development of the national economy, together with the struggle for peace, unity and ideological strength, are the main missions to the Party.
