Raul Castro Welcomes Russian Vice President

The Cuban president, Raul Castro, and the Government Vice president of the Russian Federation Dimitri O. Rogozin ratified here the excellent state of relations between the two countries, was reported here today.

The talks also confirmed the will to consolidate Russian participation in the economic development plans of the Caribbean nation in the medium and long term, according to an official note.

Rogozin chairs his country's delegation to the 14th session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.

During the Thursday's meeting with the Cuban leader, Rogozin was accompanied by Ambassador Mikhail L. Kamynin, the Director of the Latin American Department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Russian Federation, Aleksandr V. Schetinin, and the adviser to the Vice-President Rogozin, Nikita S. Anisimov.

The Cuban side included Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers; Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Planning, and Emilio Lozada García, ambassador to the Russian Federation.
