Cuban Resident in US Satisfied with Commenting on Draft Constitution

Damian Diaz, a Cuban resident in the US city of Miami, Florida, described as very significant the opportunity that people like him have to suggest their criteria on the new Draft Constitution of his country.

Those who live in other nations do not stop being Cuban and having this possibility to express our opinions is a clear sign of the confidence and recognition of our emigration, Diaz told Prensa Latina.

He noted that the Draft Constitution covers Cuban society, and echoed the statement that Cuba is a socialist, democratic, independent and sovereign State of law, organized under the premise expressed by National Hero Jose Marti (1853-1895), 'with all and for everybody's wellbeing'.

That way, the foundations for the continuity of our nation are laid, said Diaz, who is also the president of Alianza Martiana, which groups several organizations of Cuban émigrés in Miami

Diaz assured that the Draft Constitution is in tune with Cuba's reality and reflects the thought of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016), regarding changing everything that has to be changed.

On the other hand, Diaz noted the importance that the new Constitution will prioritize foreign investment by Cubans living abroad and will define a single currency. On July 22, the People's Power National Assembly approved the Draft Constitution, which will be submitted to popular consultation until November 15, as part of a process that started on August 13.

For overseas Cubans, the opportunity to express their opinions on the document began on August 31, after the necessary technical conditions were created.

They can comment on the Draft Constitution on a section on the website Nation and Emigration of the Cuban Foreign Ministry (http://www.nacionyemigracion.cu).

Cuban residents abroad have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a socialist and democratic society, led by premises like humanism and solidarity, according to Ernesto Soberon, director of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad at the Foreign Ministry.

Of an estimate of 1.4 million Cubans who live in some 120 countries, only a minority favors the destruction of the Revolution and the return to capitalism as established before 1959, Soberon told reporters in Havana in early August.

Free Lula National March Closes People's Siege on Brasilia

Nearly 5,000 members of the Landless Rural Workers'' Movement (MST), grouped in three columns, are participating in the Free Lula National March that end in a ''popular siege'' on Brasilia today.

The march departed from the towns of Formosa and Luziania, in the state of Goias, and Engenho das Lages, in the Federal District, last Saturday to walk nearly 50 kilometers to Brasilia to accompany the registration of the presidential candidacy of Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, who has been held in prison for 130 days.

On Monday, the Peace Nobel Prize winner Adolfo Perez Esquivel joined the march in solidarity with the Brazilian people and for the release of Lula, 'who is a political prisoner', he stressed. Perez Esquivel noted that the efforts to exclude the founder and historic leader of the Workers' Party (PT) by force from the presidential elections in October is not a maneuver that is used in Brazil only, but in the entire Latin American continent.

The extreme right wing is advancing in the domination of the peoples, said the human rights activist in statements to the newspaper Brasil de Fato. He underlined that 'we demand to free Lula, to run in the elections and that the people chose what party has to rule'.

Perez Esquivel also noted that there is great international solidarity with the cause of the former Brazilian president, who was sentenced without evidence to 12 years and one month in prison and has been held in custody since April 7 at the Federal Police Superintendence in Curitiba, the capital of the state of Parana.

Donald Trump: New Craziness

Another revelation contributes to clarify even more how the threads of Donald Trump’s behavior move inside the White House.

A large report published last Monday by the New York Magazine explains it. The article reveals aspects that push into the background Trumps’ famous addiction for golf.

The document reveals his devotion for the far-right television network Fox News.

The article adds that there are daily links between the president, the New York Magazine and the star host of Fox News, Sean Hannity.

The leader, amid the turmoil that hit him from every angle, has found another new addiction by exchanging his government strategies with the ultra conservative Hannity and at the same time knowing "the last political gossips of the United States."

Close sources to the leader informed the New York Magazine that "the feeling is that Hannity is the cabinet leader outside the White House."

The magazine argues that Hannity is filling the void left by Steve Bannon former White House Chief Strategist.

Hannity even belongs to a chosen group of authorized officers to call the president directly.

The New York Times said previously that Donald Trump spends several hours a day watching television, and his main source of news is Fox News.

According to the report, circulated in January, the president begins every day around 5:30 a.m. watching Fox News followed by "Fox & Friends."

His favorite TV shows include "Fox & Friends", as well as the show host by Sean Hannity.

However, the most watched show is the one he is having among the stern walls of the White House.
