DH Lazaro Cedeño batted 3 for 4, including his sixteenth home run, and became a key piece in the 7-4 win of the champion, Granma, over the current runner-up, Matanzas, in the 57 th Cuban National Baseball Series.

Cedeño also hit a double and drove in four runs, thus totaling 60 in the tournament, only surpassed by his teammate and leader Carlos Benitez (61).

The starter Yanier Gonzalez achieved his sixth win while Irandy Castro reached his fourth loss of the season and Cesar Garcia earned the save.

Now, Granma rank third in the standings, two games behind Matanzas and one ahead of Industriales, who appear fourth.

This is because the latter lost away the double header to Artemisa, who batted 31 hits and scored 18 runs in those two wins (11-5 and 7-3).

In that program, the winners had offensive highlight in 2B Jorge Aloma, who batted 5 for 6, with four RBIs, a homer and one double; and C Andy Cosme and SS Yordan Manduley, who hit 5 for 8 and 4 for 9, in that order.

The wins went to Misael Villa and Vladimir Garcia, while Frank Monthiet and Freddy Asiel Alvarez took the losses.

Finally, OF Jorge Jhonson continues on fire when hitting 3 for 5, with a double and two RBIs, in Las Tunas´ 4-3 win over Pinar del Rio, who were very erratic in defense when making five errors, which resulted in two unearned runs of their rival.

The win was for reliever Diego Granado, while Frank Luis Medina took the loss, and now his side appears on bottom of the standings.
