Cuba achieved having five taekwondo athletes to the Central American and Caribbean Games to be held in Barranquilla next July without needing to compete in the first qualifying round that will conclude on Thursday in the Mexican city of Monterrey.

The www.mundotaekwondo.com website reports that the Cubans Yosmailys Ferrer in the 46 kilogram division, Glienys Castillo in 62, Glenhis Hernandez 73, Rafael Alba 87 and Robelis Despaigne in +87 division assured their participation in the regional games scheduled from July 19th to August 3rd .

In addition to Ferrer, taekwondo athletes from Puerto Rico, Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic qualified in the 46 kilogram division while together with Castillo, athletes from El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela and Dominican Republic also qualified in the 62.

Hernandez in the 73 kilo division will share the competition with representatives from Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic while Alba in the 87 will share the floor with athletes from Puerto Rico, Haiti, Mexico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic while Despaigne in +87 will go with one from Guatemala.
