Osniel Solis increased to four the number of Cubans invited to the Guangzhou World Masters, in China, scheduled for next December 15 and 16 next as the closing of the IJF World Judo Tour 2018.
Solis received the invitation for a contest to be attended by the best 16 judokas of the world ranking in each division.
The Cuban athlete appears 20th in the men´s 66 kg division but will be in this major contest due to the decline of some of those above him, so it will have good chance to climb in the list in a tournament that will award 1.800 points to the winners of each weight.
Three other Cubans had already guaranteed their presence in Guangzhou by their rankings; they are the man Ivan Silva, fourth in the 90 kg; and women Kaliema Antomarchi (11th in 78) and Idalys Ortiz (2nd in +78), according to the latest update of the International Judo Federation (IJF).
Ortiz, due to the presumable absence of the Baku 2018 world champion Japanese Sarah Asahina, could end up on top of the universal ranking since the difference is only of 1.040 units.
The Guangzhou World Masters 2018 will be a very tough competition, with the announcement of eight out of the 14 universal division leaders, in addition to eight current world champions, five men and three women.
