Three astronauts made a parachute touchdown in Kazakhstan Saturday, ending work on the Expedition 52 after a successful 135 days in orbit.

Russian space agency Roscosmos Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin and NASA's astronaut Peggy Whitson and Flight Engineer Jack Fischer made the landing from the International Space Station.

Whitson set the record for a woman astronaut with 665 days in space. At the age of 57, she the oldest spacewoman, with 10 spacewalks under her belt. Additionally, following her launch last November, she became the first woman to direct the space station on two separate occasions.

According to PressTV, Whitson was scheduled to return home in June, following a half year in space, although when a seat on the Soyuz ship became available, she jumped at the opportunity for an extra three months.

Commander Yurchikhin holds the longest record of suspended time in space, ending his fifth mission on the 673rd day. The remaining spaceman, Fischer landed after 136 days in orbit.

The trio left behind three colleagues who continue their work at the International Space Station: an Italian, a Russian and someone from the United States. Another flight to the station, carrying two more astronauts from the U.S. and a Russian is scheduled to launch from the station in Kazakhstan on Sept. 12.
