Growing Solidarity with Cuba after the Path of Irma

Following the devastating hurricane Irma for Cuba, the Caribbean nation today has the solidarity and support of several countries, as well as their willingness to send aid.

This Sunday Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed the purpose of helping the Greater Antilles. "We have always done that, the Minister of Emergency Situations has already spoken in that regard," Putin told Prensa Latina.

Meanwhile, the Spanish government expressed in a statement from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs its deep regret for the damages in Cuba after the hurricane, as well as solidarity with the people and the government of the island.

On the other hand, the Cuban ambassador to the UN, Anayansi Rodriguez, received a message from the cabinet of the secretary general of the highest international body in which support is expressed for what is necessary.

From Asia, the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, transmitted to the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba, Marcelino Medina, the solidarity of his country after the passage of Irma.

Wang commented that the Chinese people, united by heart with the Cuban, are very worried and follow closely the evolution of the situation.

In Vietnam, the secretary general of the Communist Party of that country, Nguyen Phu Trong, sent a message to Cuba on the human and material losses suffered by the Caribbean country.

Likewise, the samples of support arrived from the south of the American continent. The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, instructed agencies and institutions of his country to activate a plan to help Cuba.

In Bolivia, President Evo Morales called on his compatriots to share what little they have with those affected by natural disasters. The government of that South American country also announced that it was preparing a contingency plan to send humanitarian aid to Cuba.

In addition, the governments of Ecuador, Colombia and Argentina expressed their solidarity and willingness to help.

The messages of support also came from Mexico and the countries of Central America and the Caribbean, a region that suffered damage recently due to several natural phenomena and remains vigilant in the face of the climatological situation.
