The member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) express their condolences to and solidarity with the people and governments of Latin America and the Caribbean, recently affected by hurricanes and earthquakes. They call on the international community to double the assistance to recover these countries, particularly island nations of the Eastern Caribbean.

They confirm their disposition to work for the establishment of international cooperation to address global warming generated by an irrational capitalist system that attacks our Mother Earth and has caused regrettable physical loss and material damage.

The ALBA-TCP exhorts the international community to fulfill the international commitments to stop global warming and to work for the achievement of sustainable development in harmony with nature.

The member countries of the ALBA-TCP express full solidarity with the families of the victims and reiterate their unrestricted support to these brotherly countries in these difficult times, and look forward to a fast recovery.

Furthermore, the member States of the Alliance reiterate their support for the development of a constructive and respectful dialogue in Venezuela, with a view to advancing the economic and political stability of the country, and express gratitude towards those promoting this valuable peace initiative.

In this regard, the members express their particular support to the Government of the Dominican Republic and their President Danilo Medina Sánchez, to former President Jose Rodriguez Zapatero, and CARICOM for the initiatives undertaken in favor of national dialogue and wish the greatest success for the benefit of the Venezuelan people.

Additionally, the ALBA-TCP member States reject the implementation of unilateral and coercive economic sanctions, which affect the access of the Venezuelan people to healthcare and food; along with the threat of use of force for constituting a flagrant violation of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations.

In this regard, the ALBA-TCP welcomes the Political Declaration of New York approved by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on 20 September 2017, in which the members condemned the threat of use of force against Venezuela.

The member countries of the ALBA-TCP urge the international community to support the process of dialogue in Venezuela and to refrain from interfering in the nation’s sovereign affairs, as well as from implementing unilateral economic and political actions which violate the principles of International Law, affecting the possibility of achieving a constructive and respectful dialogue.
