Venezuelan President calls for Peace on New Year's Eve

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro today sent a peace message on New Year''s Eve and stressed that 2019 will be a year of progress for the Venezuelan people.

In a message published on Twitter, the President predicted a new period of prosperity and progress for 2019 for the nation, focused in the economic recovery program at the Executive's initiative since late August.

With regard to the celebration, during this month a plan was put into place for Christmas that included cultural and recreational activities as well as the distribution of items for the preparation of typical dishes as well as more than eight million toys in popular sectors.

According to local media, about 37 million pieces of textiles, footwear and lingerie entered the country to sell them to the people at affordable prices also as part of the celebrations.
