The president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP in Spanish), Fernando Gonzalez, denounced here on Monday that Latin America faces a strong and articulated imperialist offensive against progressive movements and governments.

Acting at the headquarters of ICAP to welcome the Brazilian caravan 60-years of the Cuban Revolution, Gonzalez explained that this attack aims to demoralize the forces of the left and turn history back to the worst moments of the neoliberal model.

Faced with this situation, the anti-terrorist fighter also exhorted to reach and strengthen unity in diversity, that is, he explained, to strengthen the coincidences over cultural, regional, ethnic, religious or any other differences.

Gonzalez also thanked the Brazilian people for their solidarity with Cuba in their fight against the criminal blockade of the United States and for the closure of the naval base that Washington maintains illegally in the province of Guantánamo, in the east of the largest of the Antilles.

Likewise, the parliamentarian mentioned among the common causes the demand of the end of the media and subversive aggressions against Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and the progressive processes of the region.

He recognized the accompaniment of the Brazilian people to the Cuban collaborators who participated in the More Doctors program. Before the offensive statements of President Yair Bolsonaro provoked the non-permanence of Cuban professionals in this initiative, millions of Brazilians were favored with free and quality health service, he said.

The president of ICAP also illustrated to the more than a hundred group of Brazilian on the process that was lived in Cuba and outside the island for the elaboration of the new Constitution of the country, which will be submitted to popular referendum on February 24.
