The Venezuelan people want today to preserve the independent nation in defense of the achievements of the Bolivarian Revolution and to recover political, economic and social stability, assured socialist leader Elias Jaua.

In an editorial column published on Sunday by the Venezuelan News Agency, Jaua acknowledged the complexity of the national scenario while calling for a national agreement among all factors aimed at achieving social peace.

According to the former vice president (2010-2012), the executive faces constant attacks from the national right, the Lima Group as well as institutional corruption while trying to improve the quality of life of the underprivileged.

In addition, the opposition is calling for a 'final battle' on January 23, calling for a mobilization of sectors opposed to the government and to ignore the new mandate of Nicolas Maduro.

Meanwhile, Jaua recognized, the people fight their daily battle for transportation, electricity, food, medicines and tries to heal the wounds of this long confrontation by 'creating, inventing, producing with the nails and fighting with passion'.

'Venezuela and its territorial and economic integrity are above group interests, however legitimate they might be,' he added.
