The former head of the Spanish government, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, criticized the position of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, towards Venezuela and committed to dialogue as the only solution to the conflict in that country.

In statements to the press in the southern region of Murcia, Rodriguez Zapatero considered as very alarming and serious some of the positions held by the U.S. administration 'since President Trump set Venezuela on the target.

The Social Democratic politician, who recalled having visited the South American nation 37 times in the past four years, criticized the White House advisors for their ignorance of the Venezuelan reality.

In view of this situation, he asked how many of 'all those great advisors and strategists' from the United States, 'who speak out every day, know Venezuela, or how many have ever spoken with a Venezuelan who is not just one of those who draw a line', he emphasized.

Rodriguez Zapatero confessed to feeling very sad about the fact that many people who have never been there have spoken about this Latin American country.

According to the former Spanish President (2004-2011), who in recent years led international mediation in favor of an agreement between the government and the opposition of the Venezuelan Republic, the solution in Venezuela depends on negotiation and agreement.
