Caracas, May 23 (Prensa Latina) The speaker of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, announced on Thursday that this constitutional body will revoke parliamentary immunity to a new group of opposition lawmakers who participated in the failed coup attempt of April 30.

'There would be no impunity here, who committed the crime in flagrant to attempt against the stability of Venezuela on April 30, will respond to justice,' the leader said at TV news analysis show 'Con el Mazo Dando'.

Cabello recalled that to date, about 14 members of the National Assembly in contempt were withdrawn from their immunity, for openly conniving and participating flagrantly in the coup actions, by request of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) and approved by the ANC.

Cabello, who is also First Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), reiterated that among the crimes of which the representatives in the contempt are accused include treason to the homeland, conspiracy, civil rebellion, instigation to disobedience and insurrection and concert to commit a crime.

The political leader noted that the ANC is debating to establish a law to eliminate parliamentary immunity automatically, when a national lawmaker commits an action in attempt to the interests of the nation.
