Lavrov, Kerry to Meet in Beijing

“A meeting between Lavrov and Kerry is planned on November 8 in Beijing on the sidelines of the APEC events,” said the source according to RIA Novosti Russian news agency.

APEC refers to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum which groups 21 Pacific Rim nations and is holding a summit in Beijing.

Although the issues to be addressed at the meeting were not disclosed, it is assumed it will cover the Ukrainian crisis in which both sides have different points of view.

The United States has supported economic sanctions on Russia for its alleged involvement in the armed conflict that is taking place in eastern Ukraine between the government forces and pro-Russian separatists.

According to Washington, Moscow is actively providing weapons to the separatists in the eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.

The Kremlin denies the charge.
