Venezuela is currently confronting through all means the consequences of the economic blockade imposed by the United States, always in accordance with international law, stated Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza.

The Venezuelan diplomat stressed the importance of denouncing before multilateral, political, commercial and legal organizations, the coercive measures implemented by Washington, based on international law.

He stressed that alliances with emerging powers that generate markets and trading alternatives beyond the control of the U.S. government play a fundamental role in the country's capacity to resist the economic aggressions of the White House.

In an interview with Ciudad Caracas newspaper, reproduced on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, the minister stated that in the face of the hostility of the Trump administration, Venezuela will always respond in accordance with peaceful diplomacy and international law.

The U.S. government this month escalated its coercive and unilateral measures against the South American nation by implementing a total economic blockade, aimed at generating regime change in Caracas.

Using the irrational argument that the sanctions are not aimed at the Venezuelan people, Washington activated a new executive order intended to reinforce prohibitions on U.S. companies or citizens from doing any business with the Venezuelan state.

The punitive measure also included the seizure of all goods and assets of the Venezuelan government in the United States, which may not be 'transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in,' according to the executive order.
