Baku, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela brings a message of dignity, rebellion and unity to Azerbaijan, President Nicolás Maduro said upon his arrival to this nation.
Upon arrival in this capital to attend the summit the XVIII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Venezuelan president offered statements to the press, in which he highlighted the historical role that corresponds to the members of the entity.
From the countries that are in the Movement, it is up to us to plant flags in this multi-polar and multi-center world, where the movements of the nations of the south make their way, he said.
'We have to set clear the flags of independence, sovereignty, the right to the integral development of peoples', the Venezuelan head of state reaffirmed.
Maduro arrived this Thursday in this city to participate in the summit during which he will deliver the presidency of the Nun to Azerbaijan and present the achievements of his nation during the presidency pro tempore.
Venezuela assumed that responsibility in September 2016 at the XVII Summit held in Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta state, during which time it maintained a position of defense of international law, dialogue and peace.
Before leaving for Baku, the president said he will hand over the presidency of the Non-Aligned after a period marked by the renewal and strengthening of that group of states.
He said that he will present a balance of his work at the head of the multilateral mechanism, will expose the contributions made and will fulfill the duty to bring the truth about his nation, subject to a tight blockade by the United States and its allies, with the support of a Venezuelan right sector.
