Caracas, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) Multi-state channel teleSUR denounced the aggression against its correspondent Paola Dragnic, by Chilean police officers while she was reporting on repression of protesters.

Through her Twitter account, teleSUR President Patricia Villegas reported on Monday that Dragnic was surrounded by police to prevent her from reporting. 'They pressure her so she cannot report. We are live,' she tweeted.

Villegas added that at the time of the aggression, the teleSUR correspondent was explaining details of the toxic chemicals being added by security forces to the water cannons launched to disperse demonstrations against the neoliberal policies of the government of Sebastian Piñera.

Through its social media accounts, teleSUR also published a video depicting the moment when police officers pushed and mistreated the young journalist.

A study presented Monday by the Resistance Health Movement (MSR) volunteer organization revealed that Chilean police are adding pepper spray and caustic soda to the water launched against protesters.

The issue of the 'deterrent weapons' used by the Chilean police previously sparked widespread controversy when studies carried out by at least three universities of the country revealed that the alleged rubber pellets fired at protesters were not rubber at all.
